JOB DESCRIPTION:
Management position responsible for the marine operations/engineering department at multiple regions and ports. Responsible for the direction, interpretation and administration of government contracts and company policies and procedures. Generally coordinates all vessel operations, maintenance and repair activities with multiple departments to ensure all operations are carried out safely and in conformance with all applicable laws and regulations. Develops specifications, estimates and vendor bid packages and evaluates responses. Supervises a group of port engineers and monitors contractors and/or shipyard work. Prepares annual budgets and business plans. Monitors variances and prepares quarterly business plan updates. Required to confront marginal performance of subordinates and implement bargaining unit agreements. Works with local maritime agencies (USCG, local government agencies, ABS, etc) for both security and regulatory requirements. May coordinate agents and vessel assist services for arrival and departure and oversee vessel victualizing for assigned port. Responsible for implementation and monitoring of Government Quality Assurance Plans, contract deliverables and configuration management. Responsible for monitoring vessel maintenance and repair status in the vessel maintenance and purchasing program, identify deficiencies and report as required.

Requirements |
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors degree from a maritime academy or equivalent preferred. USCG License preferred. At least 10 years in a related maritime business may be substituted for a degree.
5-10 years of experience with demonstrated increases of supervisory responsibility within the disciplines of the maritime community i.e.: Operations, Engineering, shipyard and Cargo Transportation with a minimum of 2 years of sea time. Demonstrated experience in the deep sea industry preferred. Must possess skill sets and demonstrate proven experience developing, improving and streamlining processes to meet established goals and objectives. Requires the ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope. Knowledge of government repair, purchasing and logistics program, preferred.
Works outside in conditions of both hot and cold temperatures as well as inside in an office environment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom, to climb ladders and to lift and carry 50-75 lbs. Exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially hazardous equipment. Ability to board vessels in rough weather and sea conditions. Long hours, ability to travel, weekend duties and 24-hour 'on-call' status are essential job requirements. Must comply with all work rules, including those that pertain to safety and health.
